Looking for an mp3 Playa !? December 31, 2004

Hey guys I dont know why ppl go ga ga ga over an iPod..no seriously it has more cons than pros..Yes I do agree its from Apple and hell ya it looks good…but dont you think an mp3 players needs to be more practical than to just look good ! My vote is for Dell Jukebox..ya ya laugh along but when you see the comparison you will know you were wrong to laugh in the first place….Unlike others I scratched off iPods without a need to try cause..well few reasons might be that it doesnt play wma duh !and it plays music for what like 7.5 hours max !? Well I dont know about you guys but thats a no brainer to take offf the list..Now i started off with a handful..couple of rios, nomads and DJs…ended up with Creative Nomad on one hand and Dell DJ on the other….Nomad just hung up on me several times and I had to take a paper clip with the player to reset it everytime so that went out of the window…Dell DJ is full of surprises…has a whopping almost 18 hours battery life….plays anything that plays in your computer….has an inbuilt mic for you to record…lets you use it as an external hard drive…reasonably priced and doesnt look that bad ! So get yourself a Dell DJ if you are lookin to get hooked up with a mp3 playa….

Microsft XP with SP2 is vulnerable to the new Trojan !..Ya tell me something new…when was it safe anyways…The new trojan is named “Phel” and is distributed as a .html file..so all you ppl out there who have “SP2″ which I am sure most of us dont..’cause thats a joke by itself…ya rite you know what I mean… QUOTE: “Symantec warns that users will see two Internet Explorer windows pop up when an .html file with Trojan.Phel.A is opened. If the code does its worst, the Trojan will automatically be executed every time a Windows user turns on his machine.” So thats that…will be back later….

Does honesty depend on the circumstance? December 29, 2004

Its a cold day today…not as cold as I thought it would be…got into the train and paid for my ticket and TC gave a dollar extra for change and walked away…Holding the change in my hand waiting for him to walk by again so that I can return the extra buck he gave to me, I began to wonder….Would it have been different if it was a 10 dollars instead of 1 dollar…would I have been waiting for the him to return it..? or what if it was 100 or even a 1000..? I was surprised to feel different when I thought what if its 1000 or 10,000…and had a strange force that told me to just think of it as my lucky day and enjoy the bonus…but I wonder… is that normal…does honesty and principle really change with the situation…? It should not is what I am taught as a kid but what if it does and is there a definite point at which a person who does the right thing all the time will not think twice to do the wrong…? If you ask me…I dont know…If its true then that means anything in this world has a price… but they say you can’t put a price on everything…So here I am again at yet another crossroads that has left me thinking…..and FYI i did return the dollars back to him and I dont know if you can put a price for the smile on his face….

People on the trains.. December 27, 2004

If you think..the place which has the most random people might be a train station or even people travelling by train…Thats what I thought atleast until recently…I wondered how you can make friends on the train and you might never get to meet the person again when you get off ! But darn..I was wrong…I have been riding the train for the past few months to work and guess what..thats the most monotonous stuff I have ever experienced….Same people, same routine and even the place they sit and the way they put their bags are the same everyday…The only thing that is different everyday is, thank god, are the clothes they wear….Well I guess everybody goes in and out of their days but everyday always has something from their previous days…

Have you been browsing endlessly to find out the best digital camera that you can afford and that has the value for its money !? Look no further…you get best of both worlds at a resonable price and tons of features that you can show off to your friends….Canon Powershot Pro1 is the answer. You can use it as a regular point and shoot camera or if you want to shoot pics like you will using your SLR, and yes its almost a Digital SLR without having to pay too much… Here is a link that gives you the complete description of the camera… http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canonpro1/ I spent like 650 bucks on this baby and let me tell ya, its worth every penny… There is still a lot to learn about the various features and I am already excited with things it can do…… will try to post some pics later on sometime….till then peace…

Battle of OS’s December 27, 2004

Everybody who has a passion towards programming has a debate with others or within thier minds…which is better – Microsoft or the Unix counterpart……I have had my share of it and most of the time…..when I say most of the time..almost everytime I was successful in convincing people that Unix and its family was better than Microsoft….until recently. I had an arguement with one of my friends who is not into computers as I am or as most of my other friends are….and I dont mean to be a Microsoft basher like many…but ya I do hate XP sometimes…..until recently. Yes, we like it when we can type commands instead of clicking funny icons like a novice user….Yes, we like it when we write our own utilities and not worry about “hidden” code that the OS has…. Yes, we definitely like to script all our work and run it from one single program…. but we, the programming community, do not form the whole of the end user community….. Now thats where Microsoft hit a jackpot…with its smart trade-off. Yes I hear you..almost everyone uses computers today in all walks of life..but how many of them really care how it works or actually like working on those dumb boxes ! People dont care about anything if they get their work done…… and even better if they can get it done by clicking a few funny icons here and there….But again I still have not given the arguement….the fight is on and the arguement continues….. urs, ShivA
